Fargo 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

State #43 Half Marathon #53 After 42 states, North Dakota was my first race to travel alone. I do this for work ALL of the time, but I’ve never traveled for pleasure by myself. Pre-Race I flew out early Friday morning and arrived in Fargo around 2pm.  I rented  a car and immediately went downtown to explore a bit. I headed to the Fargodome to get my packet, had a chance to listen to Dave McGillery and then headed back downtown to grab dinner. I tried two different restaurants but...

Liberty Hospital 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

State 42 Half 52 Missouri has been a state that has driven me crazy- mainly because back in 2014 I missed the opportunity to run a double when I did the Garmin ½ in Kansas City. All of the races in St.Louis are in the fall, and I initially didn’t want to go back to Kansas City. I was a little nervous to do an inaugural race, but it fit in with my schedule so I just decided to suck it up (seeing as I’ve been to MO several times now). The race also aligned with Corey’s schedule and she...

42 down…9 to Go!

As I’ve gotten older (and perhaps busier), I don’t seem to care as much about annual goals or resolutions. I always want to continue to grow in my professional life, personal life, spiritual life and physical life. 2016 was BIG. I took a new job quickly and unexpectedly moved us to Alabama in February. Through out the chaos, I managed to run 2 marathons, 6 half marathons, 2 5ks, 2 BQs, 8 new states, one PR in the 5k and several AG awards. All in all, it was a great year of running...

Marine Corp Marathon Training Weeks 12, 13, 14, & 15

I have always been so good about writing about my training plans- mainly so that I can go back and evaluate each training cycle but lately I just haven’t had the time or energy to write. I’m always in awe of those that have time to blog regularly and unfortunately I don’t have a job that has me at a desk or even gives me a lunch break. So, with that, I get to play catch up on 2 months of training in a short period of time. More on race goals later this week. Week of September...

Orange Beach & Gulf Shores, Alabama- A Destination for a #Racecation

I spent every summer of my childhood vacationing in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, Alabama. A short hour or so drive from my hometown used to feel like forever away as a child. After moving to Atlanta post graduation, I only made it back to the area for a random girls weekend or bachelorette party here and there, never to just vacation. Last November, I decided to do a race in Gulf Shores the Saturday after Thanksgiving but we drove there and back not leaving much time to hang out (to get back...

Coeur D’ Alene Half Marathon Race Recap

State #37 Half Marathon #46 I planned this trip with Holly, Molly and Corey and our significant others a year ago when we were in Michigan. The two golfer husbands had heard how great the golf courses were and Batch and Rich are always up for a race. It worked out perfectly! Pre-Race Getting it Coeur d’ Alene was NOT easy. We flew out Thursday afternoon out of New Orleans and after several delays in MN, we made it to our VRBO house around 1am. Friday morning we went for a short run, did...
