Fargo 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

State #43 Half Marathon #53 After 42 states, North Dakota was my first race to travel alone. I do this for work ALL of the time, but I’ve never traveled for pleasure by myself. Pre-Race I flew out early Friday morning and arrived in Fargo around 2pm.  I rented  a car and immediately went downtown to explore a bit. I headed to the Fargodome to get my packet, had a chance to listen to Dave McGillery and then headed back downtown to grab dinner. I tried two different restaurants but...

Boston Marathon Race Recap

Repeat of state Marathon #10 Pre-Race I woke up at 6am on Monday and got ready. I ate a little baked potato and rice and Nuun and packed my bagel for my second breakfast. I had set everything out on Sunday so I didn’t feel rushed. My stomach was okay, and was able to go to the bathroom 3 times before I had to leave for the buses to meet Molly and Michelle. We had planned to take an Uber to not have to walk, but their cars couldn’t get to us because of security (our airbnb...

Liberty Hospital 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

State 42 Half 52 Missouri has been a state that has driven me crazy- mainly because back in 2014 I missed the opportunity to run a double when I did the Garmin ½ in Kansas City. All of the races in St.Louis are in the fall, and I initially didn’t want to go back to Kansas City. I was a little nervous to do an inaugural race, but it fit in with my schedule so I just decided to suck it up (seeing as I’ve been to MO several times now). The race also aligned with Corey’s schedule and she...

Pensacola Double Bridge Run 15K Race Recap

I signed up for this race a while ago and made sure it was okay with Coach to do a 15K in the middle of my training cycle. Becca and Kerri were doing the race so we planned to head to the race together. Pensacola is about an hour from Mobile, so (typically) an easy trip. What I didn’t have planned when I signed up was my work schedule for the week before. I found out after signing up that due to my national sales meeting, I wouldn’t get home until 10pm. Sigh. Pre-Race I had a CRAZY...

Portland 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

State #40 Half Marathon #49 Oregon has been a long time coming in more ways than one. First, I was originally going to do the Eugene marathon in 2013 until I ended up having to have my hip arthroscopy. All of my friends ran and I had major FOMO. Fast forward to 2015… I signed Rich and me up for the Portland 1/2 Marathon last December. Yes, that long ago, and before we had any clue that we were moving to Alabama (I realized this when our bib info said ATL). We had made plans to go to...

Marine Corp Marathon Race Recap

“State” #41 Marathon #9 I didn’t plan on doing a Fall marathon…but soon after Boston I wanted revenge on the marathon. And surprisingly, two of my sole sisters (Corey and Molly) were also planning to do the same marathon (we hadn’t even talked about it- just all 3 randomly entered the lottery). I was the only one who didn’t get in, so I chose to fundraise and then trained through the summer. Fall girls trip? Check. Pre-Race Once everyone was in D.C. on...

Jackson Hole Half Marathon Race Recap

State #39 Half Marathon #48 I had my eye on this race for over a year. I have a very understanding husband who allows me to plan our trips around races and it seems only fitting that since our honeymoon involved a race, our first anniversary trip should to, right? We took advantage of the extra days off for the holiday to celebrate a week early with a trip to Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Pre-Race We flew into Salt Lake City late Wednesday (technically arriving Thursday...
