Lots of Tacky Sweaters

Holy Holidays! Here’s how the past few weeks have been. Week of December 2nd Monday: private pilates and chiro appointment. I was extremely tight and my chiro had said that was the problem all along (probably should’ve called him right back when the pain started 2 weeks before instead of the doctor). He told me it’s my job and sitting in the car so much that is causing the pain. He guided me on my week and getting through the half marathon. Tuesday: 4 mile run in Birmingham...

Rehoboth Beach 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

Half Marathon #28 State #20 Gosh, it’s been a LONG time since I’ve been able to post a 1/2 marathon race recap. The backstory on this race…Stephanie and Jess ran this race last year and it seemed like the perfect Delaware race. Jess and I made plans in the summer for this to be my comeback 1/2 marathon and to have a #renuunion. The course was perfect for a comeback post surgery– flat and several miles of “trail” so it would be easy on my hip. I definitely...

Here We Go…

The last few weeks have been a bit bumpy. I have a 1/2 marathon on Saturday. OMG. No really. I packed last night and was a bit frantic trying to remember what all I needed…especially with a cold, possibly rainy, forecast! It has been almost 11 months since my last 1/2 marathon. That is INSANE to me.  You are probably thinking I’m off my rocker wanting to run with hip pain. Don’t yall go worrying now…I saw the chiro on Monday and my hip was tight. VERY tight. So was my...

A Whole Lot of Nothing

My past two weeks in training land have pretty much sucked. Life on the other hand, has been fabulous and busy! Week November 18th: Monday: 4 mile run. Didn’t feel great, but wanted to test out hip. Tuesday: flywheel. I also decided to call my doc about the hip pain. It was hurting to walk, and I knew that wasn’t normal. Per his advice, I had to take 5 FULL rest days off. NOTHING. Wednesday: nothing except for a private pilates class. I told the doc’s office I had this...

Not What I Wanted

Last week was a pretty solid week in training, but it didn’t end so great. Monday: 4 miles in 34:46. It was cold and you would’ve thought Atlanta shut down. The beltline and Piedmont Park were empty! Tuesday: early morning flywheel followed by a Champagne tasting and dinner at Watershed in Atlanta with Johanna and Jessica. No pictures. I have no idea why. Wednesday: 4.5 miles in 40:27 followed by private pilates. Ran my old running route that I haven’t done in almost a year...

Training and Life Lately

The past two weeks have been good! I FINALLY uploaded my garmin data for the past few months to see how I’m doing. It’s pretty obvious that my shorter distances are much better than my longer runs. Still working  I also pulled out my Believe I Am journal to start tracking how I am feeling/doing after each run.  It was kinda sad to flip to last January and see it all abruptly stop. Week October 28 Monday: 4 miles in Birmingham. They have the best running (pavement) trail. Love when...

My Next Adventure

All of my talk of the running things and my hopes for spring races and the fabulous Bourbon Chase got the best of me. I forgot to mention one little thing. A little secret. I will actually get to knock out one more state in 2013. I’m taking a girls trip with my dear friend (and coach) Jess to Rehoboth! Yes…I’m running the Rehoboth Beach 1/2 marathon on December 7th. I originally thought it would be a long shot to run the whole thing and that I would be run/walking the race...
