The #RNRNOLA Recap That Wasn’t

After spending many months blogging about Rock N Roll New Orleans, I was really, really bummed I couldn’t actually run it. I’ve done the race since it’s inaugural event and hope to do it year after year. I love making an annual trip to Nola. Even without me running, I knew we would be going. P was running and so were our three friends Tiffany,David, and John. It was going to be a weekend with friends either way as well as Tiffany and Davids first half marathon. P and I...

Reality, the Real World, and Shopping

I’m adjusting. It’s been three weeks without running. At this point, I am very realistic about my upcoming races. To rewind: I’m actually not in much pain. I feel like I could go for a run. BUT, I know I really shouldn’t. My favorite PT (from my ankle) was all booked up before my trip to Texas for work. I settled on trying a new one because the thought of doing nothing for another week was going to drive me crazy.  I wasn’t excited about a new therapist, but was...

Can You Spell It?

I’m headed to the hard to spell me state today! Don’t you remember, as a kid, struggling to spell Mississippi? M-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-hump back-hump back-I. I am forever saying this every time I spell out Mississippi, even though I obviously know how to spell it now. Funny how things trigger memories, ya know? Anyway. Yep. I’m heading to Mississippi for the Mississippi Blues 1/2 marathon on Saturday! I’m super excited to see Kim and S again...

Holiday and Training Happenings

I haven’t felt like blogging. Not sure if it has to do with all the events in CT or just lack of things to say. Even with the negative news, I love this time of year. The mailman has been full of surprises. Cards from my friends (I’m biased, but I think all my friends make beautiful babies).  Surprises from blogger friends (Alma knows me too well and has the cutest Christmas card!) Cards from Kim’s Card Exchange A beautiful ornament from Suzanne from Jenny’s Ornament Exchange And, a...

Kiawah Island 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

Half Marathon #25 State #17 12 in 2012 race #12   Pre-Race As mentioned here, P and I drove to Charleston, SC on Thursday night. After lunch on Friday, we headed to Kiawah Island- a 30-45 minute drive from Charleston. We went straight to check for our house and packet pickup was in the same place. Done and Done. The “expo” was uneventful but our house was not. We rented a house with Corey, her hubs Brad, and several of their friends, Heather, Char and Jesse.  We stayed in and cooked...

Trips and the Tree

As mentioned several times over the past few weeks, I LOVE CHRISTMAS. Decorating the Christmas tree is one of my favorite things. P was a trooper to help me pick out one and decorate it. The one reason I really love my tree is because it is filled with memories. A lot of race memories. No, I don’t use my race bling as ornaments. I try to pick up an ornament on each trip I take, and that usually means a race since I am racing the states (and less crap around my house-it only comes out once a...

Happy Thanksgiving Yall

Ah, yes, the obligatory “Thankful for” post. I do think it is important to reflect on what we are thankful for on a daily basis. Obviously, Thanksgiving is the reason to really express what those things are and celebrate with loved ones. And, of course. Eat a lot. And hopefully run a Turkey Trot. For real though, I am incredibly thankful for many things. 1. My family Immediate and extended. They all love and support me and even though they may not “get” it, they support my...
