Marine Corp Marathon Race Recap

“State” #41 Marathon #9 I didn’t plan on doing a Fall marathon…but soon after Boston I wanted revenge on the marathon. And surprisingly, two of my sole sisters (Corey and Molly) were also planning to do the same marathon (we hadn’t even talked about it- just all 3 randomly entered the lottery). I was the only one who didn’t get in, so I chose to fundraise and then trained through the summer. Fall girls trip? Check. Pre-Race Once everyone was in D.C. on...

Jackson Hole Half Marathon Race Recap

State #39 Half Marathon #48 I had my eye on this race for over a year. I have a very understanding husband who allows me to plan our trips around races and it seems only fitting that since our honeymoon involved a race, our first anniversary trip should to, right? We took advantage of the extra days off for the holiday to celebrate a week early with a trip to Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Pre-Race We flew into Salt Lake City late Wednesday (technically arriving Thursday...

Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

Half Marathon #37 State #27 Pre-Race I flew in Friday and Molly picked me up from the airport. What a nice treat to have volunteers from the race welcoming us with gift bags! We checked into our hotel, the Renaissance, which was the perfect location for the race. We decided to hit the expo that day, and it was only a few blocks away. The expo had plenty of stuff to check out and a few freebies, too. I was super excited to see the new Nuun Plus, and went ahead and purchased some to try for the...

Things I’m Lovin X

Yall. Seriously, I had to go back and look and the last time I did a Things I’m Lovin was SEPTEMBER. That is not okay. So let’s get to it, because obviously we have A LOT to catch up on. 1. Race Weekend! I’m heading to Ohio to run the Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon. I originally had plans to run the Indi-Mini on Saturday and the Pig on Sunday but with Bayshore a few weeks out, I had to back out of Indiana. I’m SO excited because I get to spend the weekend with one of my...

Little Rock 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

Half Marathon #36 State #26   Pre-Race I flew to Arkansas early Saturday morning and got in around 11:00. Beth was a bit delayed due to snow/ice so I decided to take a cab downtown and go ahead and get us checked in. I ended up grabbing a seat in a car of  a transportation company and it only cost $15 (do this if you do this race- cheaper than a cab) to get to the hotel. The GM at the Residence Inn was super nice and gave me race tips and Little Rock tips while I waited on Beth. Turns...

Running Rituals

A few weeks ago when I was getting ready for the Peachtree, Rich asked me what I had on my wrists. Ever since Hood to Coast, I wear my endorphin warrior bracelet that says “believe” and a bracelet that Jess brought for each of us (her niece made them) to every single race I run. I guess it’s my superstition or running rituals. I realized in my running life I have a lot of rituals/habits. In addition to the bracelets… 1. I eat the exact same thing for every race over a...
