Bayshore Marathon Week 7

I love that coach changed up the training a bit this week. It was good to get back into my work travel routine, even though packing all my food was tough. I’m almost done with the elimination phase of FODMAP! Monday: PLAN- 1 mile 10K pace, 45 minute muscle imbalance work ACTUAL- 1 mile 7:16, 45 minutes hip/glute work, private pilates I LOVE that I’m “forced” to do 45 minutes of strength training. My hips and glutes were definitely on fire after this workout. It...

A Gut Check

For years now, I have had stomach issues. It’s not the most glamourous thing to talk or write about, but I think it’s important to share because it sheds light on things that others may not be aware of and may be helpful and, it may end up explaining why some of my runs/races haven’t gone so well (and why I often need a pitstop). When I say stomach issues, I mean the following- upset stomach/bowel movements on average 3-6 times a day, heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, pain and...

Things I’m Lovin’ VII

Hey, hey, hey!! It’s FRIDAY! Figured it was time for another things I’m lovin post. 1. Jewelry. I’ve been big on wanting to add accessories and I recently purchased two new things. My new Erica Sara necklace. I wanted a PR present and something to capture my feelings NOW. Something to remind me of this time in my life, my training, etc. I found a couple of quotes that I loved and worked with Erica on a custom piece. Dream Big Sky Above Me, Earth Below Me, Fire Within Me She...

Lots of Easter, Tradition, and Cooking

Can we please talk about how insanely inspiring the Boston Marathon was on Monday?!? I’m so proud of all of my friends who finished the race. I can’t WAIT to make it there one day. Here’s what I’ve been up to the past few weeks. Week of April 7th Monday: private pilates. Body was exhausted, no run. Just pilates. Tuesday: 4 miles (35:27, 8:51 pace) with Abby on the Beltline. Barre 3 class. Being home for a few weeks means getting back in the kithen. I cooked a Cooking...

Clicking Register, Sacrifice, and Fun Running Mail

Apparently a healthy hip means an issue with clicking the register button. I might be a little race happy, but I think I deserve it. Here’s what I’ve added in the past few weeks. Please keep in mind I don’t plan to “race” them all. Some of the races may be tempo runs, easy long runs, some for plain old fun, and some I may actually race. I will continue to listen to my body and do what is best for me. 1. The Atlanta Junior League ShamRock n’ Roll races are...

King Cake Taste Testers Extraordinaire

When I do a race recap, I really try and combine the entire trip/race into one post. But I feel like New Orleans deserves a post of it’s own…mainly centered around the food. There was way too much to combine into one post. So, here is a pre/post race recap… For the past four years of heading to Nola for this race, Mardi Gras has already ended. I LOVE Mardi Gras. I grew up with it (it started in Mobile) and miss getting to go on a regular basis. I also miss the KING CAKE. To...

Things I’m Lovin’ Part 2

I haven’t done a things I’m lovin’ post in a while. 1. Kona Kase.  I was offered a free KonaKase to review. I have been wanting to try out one of these types of deals for a while. Kona Kase is more my speed with nutrition and products for athletes. I still haven’t had a chance to try out the gels or pro bar yet, but everything else I had I LOVED. I will probably end up buying a few things from the box. Highlights include: Caveman cookies, Garuka Bars, Enjoy Life mix. I...
