Annapolis Classic 1/2 Marathon

State #34 Half Marathon #43 Pre-Race I flew into Baltimore and Corey picked me up from the airport and we made our way to Annapolis. We went straight to the expo- which was more of a packet pickup at the Navy Stadium. I forgot to pack my gloves, so bought another set of throwaways. We grabbed lunch at Miss Shirley’s Cafe, checked in to the hotel (Loews was the host and less than a mile from the start and finish), did a little shopping and exploring around downtown Annapolis and I did a 20...

Indianapolis Monumental 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

State #33 Half Marathon #42 I had originally planned to run Indiana in the spring and to do a double with the Flying Pig and Indy Mini race. When I had decided on a spring marathon, I chose to only do one. Luckily, I wasn’t really attached to that race (not a huge fan of the race car scene) and my good friend Molly offered to meet me for the Indy Monumental, which I had heard great things about. When I saw Coach’s goal in my Training Peaks account, I kinda panicked. When I said the goal was...

IMT Des Moines 1/2 Marathon

State #32 Half Marathon #41 You never know what to expect out of the “less exciting” states (no offense, Iowa) but I’m usually pleasantly surprised. Rich joined me for this one and decided to sign up at the expo, too. Pre-Race We flew in late Friday and night and stayed in West Des Moines at the Sheraton (I had a free night). Saturday we hit the Whole Foods for our breakfast race morning and drove to downtown Des Moines. We walked around the Farmers Market and realized how much cooler it...

Aloha! A trip to Kauai and Maui

I’m the type of traveler that wants to do it ALL. Sometimes traveling with me can be exhausting…luckily Rich is always on board for the same sort of thing and enjoys the adventure. When we decided on Hawaii as our honeymoon destination, Jes gave us her itinerary from their trip last year. I figured I would share with you what we did on our trip. I must say, there were only a few things I would change. We loved it! I did have workouts on the schedule, but Coach made them easy, 30 mins of...

Maui 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

State #31 Half Marathon #40 Most people thought I was crazy when I said I wanted to run a half marathon on my honeymoon. Luckily, Rich was on board (because a trip to Hawaii from ATL isn’t exactly easy, we may as well kill two birds with one stone). Pre-Race The race started at 5am- which meant a 4am wakeup call for us. The good news is that we were less than a mile from the start so it wasn’t too bad. I had my usual breakfast (gluten free bagel and almond butter) and got ready and we...

Racing to the Alter and Crossing the Finish Line

After Rich and I were engaged, I knew that running would be a part of our wedding detials, it was the start of how we met and so much of who we are. I did some research, but didn’t find a ton out there that was really my style, but I knew in my head what I wanted. I didn’t want it to be super cheesy- I wanted tasteful with a touch of fun. My planner, Mindy, and my family were patient with me. Once I have an idea in my head, I can’t let it go until I try it. Needless to say, my pinterest...
