  • My suggestions for MN races:

the Twin Cities Marathon (known as “the most beautiful urban marathon in the world”!) and ANY Team Ortho race! They are in other cities, but I’m partial to Minneapolis & St. Paul. FUN!

  • Hi Elizabeth.

My name is Lauren, I’m a reporter for the CBS affiliate in Mobile, Alabama. I’m so sorry about what happened to you while running this weekend. The police sent the media some information about the crime, and we have been airing the story and posting it online, hoping to catch this guy.

I hope we can help. One of our viewers led me to your blog post. Are you still in the area? We would like to interview you if you’d like to share your story with our viewers. I am a runner myself who used to live at Regency Gates on Grelot, and I ran there all the time. It’s so scary to think that this could happen to anyone at any time.

If you’d like to talk with us, please email me at or call me anytime on my work cell at 251-288-0354. I’d love to meet you on Monday morning for a little bit. As this is for television, maybe we can get some video of you running as well.

    Thank you,

  • I too am a runner having done 4 marathons I understand the zone. I am so glad you shared your story ,the girl that helped has been a running partner and good friend since our boys were 4 years old . They are now 16 I am guilty of headphones and running in my neighborhood not thinking. I am going to put a leash on my dalmation and mace in hand. Thanks again for telling your story!!

  • Elizabeth,

I read your posting on your horrible incident. I’m the owner of Personal Savers, which makes unique pepper spray products for runners and active people. We have been featured in Women’s Running, and Moms Run This Town to name a few. Your situation, is one of the main reasons my partner and I started Personal Savers.

I would love to send you a free Pink Wrist Saver, which is for runners, to help keep you safe. If you can email me with your mailing address, I’ll get it right out to you. My email is

Have a wonderful day and keep safe,

    Personal Savers

  • I read your story about the assault. My heart goes out to you. It is a fear of mine when I run alone. I am not sure if you have hear of Moms Run This Town, a free running club for moms. It’s nation wide with chapters spread all over the US and some in Canada. It allows women to connect to others with the same love of running. Also, when traveling, you can as for a running partner from a group in that area. If you have not already, you should check us out!

  • I also participated in Run The Bluegrass and through the race director, saw your post…you did a fanastic job!!! I spent a little time on your blog and find your story and goals fascinating!!! My wife and I currently live in Louisville, KY and see that you have the Derby Festival as one of your bucket list items. I have run the full marathon every year since 2005 (less two years – one out of country and two for injury). If you plan on running, let me know and we can make sure that you have a great itinerary for the weekend in our city! Also, had to let you know that you were pictured with one of my running partners (Michael Turner) who is wearing the yellow Swags shirt! When you come to town, I am sure that he will be able to get you a deal on some running gear from the store (Swags is THE local running store of choice)!!!
Good luck in obtaining the BLING!!!

  • I am so sorry for what happened to you,I feel stupid even asking you this question.I am a 46 y/o male who tore the labrum in his left hip over a year ago, developed a paralabral cyst and finally had hip arthroscopy surgery on 7/13/16 to remove the cyst, debride the labrum and thankfully repair/suture the rest of the labrum. I also have FAI, so a significant bone resection /shaving had to be done. The FAI most likely caused the labral tear.
My wife and two daughters think that I should be healed and completely normal after 4 or 5 days. I am still in significant pain despite the medications, but they think it is a joke, they can’t see any outward injury such as a cast etc.
I had anchors placed for labral sutures , bone shaving, general anesthesia. I have lost seven pounds in the last four days ,from nausea, and missing meals because of sleep.
My family thinks I should be completely healed by now. Can you help me?Anything, duration of recovery etc. would help.I am pushing myself already because they think I should be healed after 96 hours. I fear that proper healing will not happen if I don’t stop. My first post op meeting is this Thursday 7/21/16.
