Boston Marathon Training Weeks 5 & 6

Just when I thought my marathon training would be my focus of the winter, life throws curveballs. AMAZING opportunities, but still added stress. I thought my January-March was going to be limited travel, down time in Atlanta to blog, scrapbook, and CHILL. Something I really haven’t done enough of in the past year. Well, as of the past Monday, we are Sweet Home Alabama bound! I received an offer to work for an amazing company with a smaller territory, more money and better benefits. An...

Farewell 2015, Hello 2016 and a Giveaway

When 2014 ended, I wasn’t sure that a year could top it. Coming off a really crappy 2013, 2014 was my hero. And then 2015 seemed to blow it out of the water. It’s been a pretty amazing year in my personal life and in my running life. I got engaged, welcomed another niece into the world, took some amazing trips, celebrated my engagement, got married, honeymooned, and well, here we are. (We just got our wedding video and I had to share- but you need a few minutes to watch!) Elizabeth...

Kaiser Coastal 1/2 Marathon Race Recap

Alabama #4 Half Marathon #44 I’ve known about this race for several years, but I haven’t really had a desire to run it, mainly because of the timing with other races that I’ve done in the Fall. I was SHOCKED when Coach said it would be okay to do just one more race before taking a week off. What he didn’t really know (and neither did a lot of other people), was this race was more mental for me. Three years ago, on Iron Bowl Saturday (Auburn vs Alabama game), I was...

Holiday Happenings

Each year, one of my favorite ways to recap the year is through my Christmas tree. If you’ve been reading for a while, you know that my token tourist purchase is an ornament from my new state that I race. I’m pretty lucky to have collected 8 new ornaments this year. I honestly didn’t think that anything could top 2014, but 2015 proved me wrong. More on that reflection later, for now it’s all about Christmas.Little Rock, Arkansas. My first PR in the half marathon distance in 2015 and a...

Boston Marathon Training Week 1 and 2

I swore I would post about marathon training since I had backed off when I was training for the half marathons this fall (and wedding and life got in the way of consistent blogging). I enjoy being able to look back and see how my training went. So, here we go. I can hardly believe it’s time to train for Boston. It’s a bit of a mixed emotions. Monday: PLAN- 45 mins weight/strength ACTUAL-45 mins weight/strength This was a new to me workout (I think) or it’s been a really long time...

Run for Hope 5K Race Recap

If I’m in Mobile for Thanksgiving, you can bet I’m running this race. So, for the 4th time in the past 6 years, I ran the Run for Hope 5K. This year, Rich was able to run, too. This was my first (and only) 5K this year and the last one I did was this same race last year. Let’s just say it’s obvious that the 5K isn’t my distance of choice. But, I wanted to shoot for a PR since it wouldn’t be that hard for me to beat mine set back in April of 2014. I signed us...
