When 2014 ended, I wasn’t sure that a year could top it. Coming off a really crappy 2013, 2014 was my hero. And then 2015 seemed to blow it out of the water. It’s been a pretty amazing year in my personal life and in my running life. I got engaged, welcomed another niece into the world, took some amazing trips, celebrated my engagement, got married, honeymooned, and well, here we are. (We just got our wedding video and I had to share- but you need a few minutes to watch!)
In my running life I completed 9 new states, PR’d in the half marathon twice shaving a total of over 2 minutes off my previous time, PR’d and BQ’d in the Marathon by over 11 minutes, PR’d the 5K, won a 5K, won 3rd place OA in a half, 2nd place AG in 5K, won 2 AG awards in two half marathons, and was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal. Yep, pretty solid year. Can all of this be topped? Who knows. That’s never really the goal, it’s more to enjoy myself and experience as much as I can and be fulfilled in all ways possible-but 2016 is already looking to be a pretty fun year.
So, what’s the plan?
To knock out at least 8 more states and have a whole lot of fun doing it!
- The Sedona 1/2 marathon (February with Jes)
- Boston Marathon (April)
- Couer d Alene 1/2 marathon (May with Corey, Molly, Holly and husbands)
- Hatfield and McCoy 1/2 marathon (for West Virginia in June with Corey and Molly)
- Missoula 1/2 marathon (July with Tricia)
- Jackson Hole 1/2 marathon (September with Rich)
- Portland 1/2 marathon (October with Rich)
- Marine Corp Marathon (October if we get in)
IF I can financially find a way to squeeze in one more, I will, but not sure it will work out with scheduling. I’ve learned in this racing the states process that there are 2-3 weekends a year that take up all the really good races.
I do plan on adding a little challenge to this and maybe you will join me… to do 2016 miles in 2016 with the Run This Year group. You can do the goal individually, as a duo, or as a team. I would love to have you on my team- so let me know! There are giveaways every day, a virtual training room, expo, and even a medal.
I will continue to use ClassPass for my cross training- I LOVE having the options for so many different types of strength and yoga classes and truly believe it has made a difference in my marathon training. I’m proud to be an Ambassador for ClassPass and I want to give you the opportunity to try it out for a month, too!! If ClassPass is in your area and you’ve never been a member, enter here. If you are eager to try it out, use this link to save $10 on your first month. a Rafflecopter giveaway
