Bayshore Marathon Week 19

The week honestly seems like a blur right now…I keep meaning to update yall on things I’m Lovin but the week just gets away from me. Hopefully this will be the week!

  • PLAN- 20 min core work
  • ACTUAL- 20 min core work

  • PLAN- 10 min warmup, 7×1 mile repeats @ 1 mile pace, 400m recovery b/tw
  • ACTUAL- 9.75 miles @ 8:12 avg pace 7×1 @ 7:08 pace and Yoga for Athletes

Cheating on FODMAP and eating at the chocolate led to mid-run on the treadmill race to the bathroom. Ahh. I know the consequences and this was a quick reminder that cheating doesn’t work before a hard run.

To make the day worse, I got a speeding ticket. In a construction zone. To the amazing tune of $640. I have no words. Mainly anger. To the pig who pulled me over and no one else going the same speed as me. GRRRRR. IMG_0889That afternoon I made it to my favorite Yoga for Runners class again. MUCH needed.

  • PLAN- 7 mile endurance run
  • ACTUAL- 7 miles @ 8:30 avg pace, private pilates

It was a gorgeous morning for a run! I don’t think I can ever get enough sunrise runs. That afternoon, a private pilates session with Laura. Lots of focus on lengthening, core, and arm work. IMG_0893_2AND, in really exciting news, I finally got a ride-around-town-bike. It’s festival season in the ATL, the weather is gorgeous, and all sorts of fun restaurants are opening up on the beltline and a bike is a fun way to commute! I think Rich cringed at buying crappy Craiglists bikes, but they were cheap and if something happens to them, it won’t matter. IMG_0898Thursday:

  • PLAN- 45 mins muscle imbalance strength
  • ACTUAL- 1 mile @ 7:13 pace, muscle imbalance work

  • PLAN- 1 mile endurance, 3×1200 @ 1200 pace, 400m recovery, 2 miles tempo pace
  • ACTUAL- 6 miles @ 7:58 pace. 3×1200 @ 6:53, 2 @ 7:35, Exhale Chill Yoga

A solid speed work session and then my other favorite yoga class, Exhale Chill. I think we only did about 5 poses the entire class and they were all hip opener type stretches. AMAZING. IMG_0907Rich and I had our first marital meeting at the church and that was interesting to say the least. We had planned on heading out to Ragnar Trail to see our friends and my Nuun buddies and celebrate where we met but the bottom fell out of the sky and we weren’t hanging out in the mud and rain if we didn’t have too. 🙂

  • PLAN- 10 miles @ MGP
  • ACTUAL- 10 miles @ 7:58 pace

I met Jes and Tricia for a run along the river. I felt strong the entire time and easily held a conversation. It’s hard to believe I only have a few runs with Jes left in the ATL before she moves to Florida. It’s gonna be a big adjustment for me- we always work out together and she’s become a good friend and someone I can count on to join me for miles or a good yoga class. IMG_0920_2That afternoon, Rich and I took the bikes to a festival and then spent the afternoon cleaning out the house. IMG_0922Sunday:

  • PLAN- rest day
  • ACTUAL- rest day

After a quick visit my nieces, we spent the rest of the day finishing our cleaning projects. We cleaned out 2 closets and finished updating our bling wall and FINALLY finishing my gallery wall that I’ve wanted since I moved in. I’m obsessed. IMG_0925_2 IMG_0935_2

Total Miles for the Week: 33.75

A nice step back week before 2 pretty big weeks ahead. I always love a full week in Atlanta and love when I can get a lot of things checked off the to-do list!

What’s the most you’ve paid for a speeding ticket? Are you good about getting things hung up around your house or do you take your time? Is your city bike-friendly?

  • OMG That ticket is obnoxious! Here in Chicago it’s all about the red light cameras which are a total sham. We just got snapped for hurrying thru the yellow last weekend. Sucks.
Your workouts are stellar as always. Yay for bikes. Chi is mostly bike friendly but I wouldn’t dare ride with the crazy traffic. The Lakefront path is ok early but gets crazy crowded.

  • Wow that’s a lot of money for a ticket! I know in work zones the fines are double here but not sure they are that much.
I haven’t hung anything up on my walls yet and we have been in our house 2.5 years, we built it new and my husband is having issues with putting holes in the walls he worked so hard on.
Enjoy your bikes and festivals this summer!

  • yeah, so $640 might make me spew all over that officer’s shoes. Seriously?! ugh. aside from that – great week! I love the wall and love the bikes – Rich will soon see the benefit, no doubt.

It depends on your meaning of bike friendly – our roads are not, but we have an amazing trail system….so I guess it depends on where you want to go. And in general I think I’m good about getting things done in the house, but it’s mixed – we still have an empty dining room and a cluster of wall hangings that need to be dealt with and things I’d *like* to do but am nowhere near starting.

  • We live in New Orleans, so – Craigslist bikes are the best for us. When they get stolen out of our yard, we just shrug it off and buy another one (probably also stolen).

  • Congrats on a really solid week of runs. You nailed your three key workouts. Nice job. And, um … you didn’t tell me about this speeding ticket. That SUCKS! I’m so sorry that you have to fork over that cash. Ugh! I’m looking forward to running tomorrow and in the last few weeks while I’m in Atlanta. We’ll have to do virtual runs I guess after May. I’m going to miss running with you more than words. xo

  • i LOVE biking around our neighborhood and even into downtown Jax…there’s a whole group of us that live really close together and jokingly call ourselves the ABG (Avondale Bike Gang) when we all ride to a festival or restaurant/bar together – it’s like 12-14 people so it’s hard to miss us! y’all will LOVE this method of getting around.
so excited to see your runs going so well!! the heat got to me last weekend but such is life.. 🙂 it’s getting close!!! xoxo
