It was a pretty exhausting week. I had my company sales meeting in Dallas, and while I LOVE what I do and who I work with, all day meetings and dinners can really wear you out. At least the week was followed by a pretty awesome weekend!

I flew to Dallas early (I seem to always have delayed flights and wanted to play it safe) and it left me with plenty of time to workout before our meetings started. I decided to go ahead and do my mid week endurance run outside so that I wasn’t stuck on a treadmill at 5am on Wednesday.
It was a BORING run. We stayed near a mall and I literally ran loops around concrete shopping center after shopping center with little to no shade or trees. I was glad to get that one out of the way.
- PLAN- 6 miles. 1 mile warmup, 3×1200 (5:07-5:10), 400m recovery, 2 miles at tempo pace. 4 minutes of hip flexor warmup.
- ACTUAL- hip flexor warmup. 6 miles 7:58 avg pace. 1200s @ 5:04, 4:59, 5:06, tempo at 7:35
I really liked this workout. I struggled to figure out exactly what pace it was supposed to be on the treadmill but I played around with the speed a bit to get close to the goal. This was followed by a very long day that started at 7:15 and ended around 9pm.Wednesday:

- ACTUAL- 35 minutes elliptical, arm/back weights and squats
Since I completed my Wednesday workout on Monday, I was left with an open day. I haven’t been sleeping well so I planned to do easy cardio in the hotel gym. I always find that healthy food options are hard to find at work meetings, so this made me feel a bit better, too.
I haven’t been on the elliptical in ages and decided to do a few rounds of my old basic arm workout and squats. It was another long day of meetings, but it was also the most fun day. First, myself and another coworker who are both engaged were giving crowns to wear for the rest of the day. Then, we had an interactive tour of our home office. This was probably the coolest part of the week- we make all of our products (research, development, packaging, shipping, etc) in house. This is pretty rare for a company in skincare these days and I love getting to see how we do it. The sales team got to participate though and that was the best part. We worked with shipping and pulled orders, just like they do all day for our customers, and then we got to bottle our own product and package it. This part was timed and it was a race and our team won!
That night was also really fun, we had a casino night. I played blackjack ALL NIGHT and won several raffle tickets and walked away with K-cups and new EltaMD coffee mugs as well as an EltaMD towel. Thursday:
- PLAN- 20 minute core strength
- ACTUAL- 2o minutes core strength
A partially deflated physio ball made this even more challenging, but I got it done. We had a little over a half day left of meetings and then we all headed back home. I was really ready to be home, and finally landed back in ATL around 9:45pm.
- PLAN- hip flexor warmup, 7 miles. 10 minute Z2 warmup, 8×800, 400m recovery.
- ACTUAL- hip flexor warmup, 7.1 miles @8:35 pace, 800s at 3:22 pace, restorative yoga
For as tired as I was, this went much better than I had expected. Only downside is work took our ipads in exchange for an HP tablet so I didn’t get to watch House of Cards (I brought our personal ipad but the gym doesn’t have WIFI).
I also made it back to Exhale for a lunch time yoga…and oh, the stretching and the soreness. Lots of hip opening work that I really needed. That night, my dad came in town and we went to dinner and worked a little on wedding stuff.

- ACTUAL- 1 mile warmup, Cupcake 15K (8.98 miles) @ 7:26 pace
I nailed the times that Coach had set for me, but still so bummed this race course was short. See the recap, here. That afternoon, we celebrated A’s 2nd birthday party. She LOVES her play makeup that we got her. And, my sister did an amazing job with her party- including a toddler size photo booth that we had way too much fun in!

Rich and I had a pretty busy day working on combining houses and cleaning out closets. I’m so glad that Classpass charges you to cancel if it’s 24 hours or less before the class because it forced me to go and not skip my yoga class. It was just what I needed to chill out and I even fell asleep in a few of the poses.

Definitely a cut back week, but it was perfect timing with my work trip. I’m really happy with the results at the 15K and it was a huge confidence booster going into the Little Rock 1/2 Marathon in a few weeks.
