Bayshore Marathon Week 5

I spent most of the week in Mobile relaxing, visiting with friends and family, and hit the track for a few more runs. I actually spent an entire day in my lazy clothes and never left the house-a perfect way to relax.


  • ACTUAL- Barre3

I couldn’t do another rest day. I know, not following directions but I wanted a strength workout. It was another free class, and I was able to take it with my sister.


  • PLAN- 6 miles. 10 min warm up w 5×15 sec pickups, 3×1 mile repeats(7:05-7:10), 800m easy between, 5 min easy recovery
  • ACTUAL- 6 miles 8:02 avg pace. 10 min warmup w/pickups, 7:08, 7:06, 7:07, 5 min easy recovery

I headed up to my high school track again for these. The repeats were harder than I expected them to be! That afternoon Rich and I went over to see my cousin and her family and then my friend Tiffany and her family (my godson).IMG_9960Wednesday:

  • PLAN- 7 mile endurance run
  • ACTUAL- 7 miles 8:35 avg pace

Last run of the year! I finished out at 1530 miles and ran my last 7 around my favorite running parts of Mobile. We had a very low key night at my dads house with some of his friends. I managed to make myself stay up until midnight for the ball to drop and drink champagne (and went to sleep maybe 10 minutes later).IMG_9965 IMG_9968 IMG_9971 IMG_9984 IMG_9989Thursday:

  • PLAN- rest day
  • ACTUAL- rest day

It was odd to rest on the first day of the new year, but plans are plans. I’m not one for starting something over on January 1st anyway. Most resolutions are fitness based and I already work out and eat right, so I didn’t really feel that bad in my pj’s while my instagram, twitter, and facebook blew up with lots of active people (go yall!). I ate my collards and black eyed peas- so there’s my luck and money for the year!


  • PLAN- 6.5 miles speed work. 15 min zone 2 warmup, 6×800, 400m easy recovery, 5 min zone 1 cool down
  • ACTUAL-6.5 miles 8:06 avg pace. 15 min warmup, 3:25, 3:24, 3:24, 3:25, 3:26, 3:25, 5 min cool down

Last run at the track. Rich and made the trek back to ATL.  It wasn’t so terrible because we started the Serial podcast. HOLY ADDICTING!IMG_9992Saturday:

  • PLAN- 10 mile easy/recovery long run
  • ACTUAL- 10 miles 9:28  avg pace

I met up with Jes for a nice and easy 10 mile run in the drizzle and rain. It was an adjustment back to hilly Atlanta! Rich and I spent the rest of the day taking down Christmas decorations and cleaning up. Why is the taking down so miserable!?!IMG_9996Sunday:

  • ACTUAL- rest day

Total Miles for the Week: 29.7

It was a great week…the mileage only goes up from here as Mason reminded us. 20 weeks till go time. Right now, I’m loving this plan. The workouts change from week to week and they are just challenging enough- not unattainable- but a hard workout that leaves me feeling tired and good all at the same time.

  • Love the art – I need to do something more abstract for my house. A friend of mine is moving and gave me a lovely canvas, all stretched and stapled already, and I need to paint it!
    I don’t have any fitness-related resolutions, either – although I have “goals”, but that’s really just to get these hips healthy!

  • I just started the Serial podcast this week on a run – all the hype is accurate! We didn’t do much for New Year’s and I didn’t even make it till midnight 🙂 I hate taking down Christmas decorations too. Way to go on the consistency of the 800s, I have my first track workout in a long time tomorrow.

  • I really need to get my Christmas decorations down. This weekend hopefully! I don’t really love celebrating the “New Year” at midnight. I guess as a mama for four kids I spend way too much time looking forward to bedtime! haha. Happy New Year!

  • Happy New Year! We made lobster tails and stayed home. Caveman stays up until NYC new year, I lasted one more hour for our own time zone. Girl you are back at it, spanking the training! I am not a resolution maker, more of a goal setter. Everyone’s raving about Serial. I need to check it out!

  • Happy New Year! I crashed by 10pm on NYE because I’m cool like that. Nice training! Way to get after it. I’ve never listened to the serial podcast but it sounds like something I need to check out for my next road trip.
