  • ACTUAL- 8 miles 8:34 avg pace and PT

Jes met me for an early run around Piedmont Park.

Thursday:

  • PLAN- travel day
  • ACTUAL- travel/rest day

Rich and I flew to Florida for his sisters wedding. A full day of errands and family time!

Friday:

  • PLAN- 4 miles easy
  • ACTUAL- 4 miles 8:06 avg pace

I got up early to go for a quick run around the neighborhood. It was flat as a pancake and the run was effortless!! That day we helped with wedding stuff and then had went the rehearsal dinner at Cabbage Key Old House. The only way to get there was by boat- and supposedly there is $70,000 in one dollar bills on the walls. Of course, we contributed. IMG_9581Saturday:

  • PLAN- 6 miles easy
  • ACTUAL- 6 miles 8:19 avg pace

GORGEOUS morning for a run. Surprisingly, most of my run was along the road with homes and very little view of the beach but I still enjoyed the million (plus) dollar homes that I could see instead.IMG_9597Rich and I had a little free time to grab a bite to eat and check out a little bit of the island. We had the most amazing key lime pie and was well worth the indulgence. It always entertaining to see Christmas on the beach. IMG_9607 IMG_9606 IMG_9605Jana and Brandon (Richs sister and new bro-in-law) tied the knot that afternoon and we celebrated with them. It was a gorgeous wedding (unfortunately somehow no pictures with them). IMG_9612Sunday:

  • PLAN- rest/travel
  • ACTUAL- rest/travel

Exhausted and a rest/travel day back to the ATL to repack for the Thanksgiving trip to Mobile.

Total Miles for the Week: 22

Week of November 24th

Monday:

  • PLAN- 4 miles easy, PT, chiro
  • ACTUAL- 4 miles 8:29 avg pace, PT, chiro

I graduated from PT!! We retested my strength in my glutes and they have improved. I have to stick to my exercises over the next few weeks and then check back in at the end of December to see how I’m doing. I also worked my way home to Mobile for Thanksgiving, and that made for a very long day!

 Tuesday:

  • PLAN- rest
  • ACTUAL- rest

I thought about going to a barre3 class but the hours offered weren’t feasible with my work schedule. So, rest and family time instead. We decided to get crafty and make a few christmas trees. IMG_9629IMG_9642Wednesday:

  • PLAN- 7 miles easy
  • ACTUAL- 7 miles 8:27 pace

I LOVE running through Springhill and Springhill College when I’m home. There are always a lot of people out and the views of the oak trees are gorgeous. I took the afternoon to catch up with my girlfriends and see their kiddos.IMG_9646Thursday:

  • PLAN- 2 mile warmup plus Turkey Trot 5k
  • ACTUAL- 2.11 easy miles w/a few strides 8:36 avg pace and 3.12 miles 7:00 pace (21:52)

More on the race soon, but all in all, I don’t like 5ks. I did very much enjoy the feast that afternoon, though. IMG_9655 IMG_9662Friday:

  • PLAN- rest day
  • ACTUAL- rest day

Rich and I got up early to take my grandmother to the Casinos. We had fun, but let’s just say, ya win some, ya lose some.IMG_9664Saturday:

  • PLAN- 8 miles easy
  • ACTUAL- 9 miles easy 8:29 pace

The whole family went to Dauphin Island for the day. My plan was to run in Mobile, but I decided it would be more fun to run along the water. It was a good call. A nice, mind clearing run and I decided to go a bit longer to keep exploring and enjoy the time outside. It was 2 years ago this day that I was assaulted and I am thankful that he is behind bars and I am moving forward. No tears on this run, just happy.IMG_9670Sunday:

  • PLAN- rest/travel day
  • ACTUAL- rest/travel day

Rich and I left super early to beat the traffic (so glad we did because apparently there were accidents everywhere!). It also gave us time to get our tree!! This is truly my favorite time of year.

Total Miles for the Week: 25.21

I feel fully recovered from the marathon and pain free. My runs are pretty effortless right now. As much as travel can be exhausting, I truly loved spending a weekend and then week with each of our families. And, we were lucky enough to be in warmer weather and on the water.

Did you turkey trot? Turkey- take it or leave it? Are you crafty or do you prefer to let someone else get their Martha on and you just buy it?

  • Oh I hate 5Ks too! At least they are over quickly :) Glad to hear you are feeling better and your recovery is going well. Congrats on moving forward so well and putting the attack behind you, I’m sure having him behind bars helps to give closure. Florida looks like it was fun!

  • We had our inaugural thanksgiving run at whitewater state park! There were about 25 people who showed up. The temperature was about 20 degrees but all in all it was a great event!
