Here We Go…

The last few weeks have been a bit bumpy. I have a 1/2 marathon on Saturday. OMG. No really. I packed last night and was a bit frantic trying to remember what all I needed…especially with a cold, possibly rainy, forecast! It has been almost 11 months since my last 1/2 marathon. That is INSANE to me. Screen shot 2013-12-04 at 11.05.45 PM

You are probably thinking I’m off my rocker wanting to run with hip pain. Don’t yall go worrying now…I saw the chiro on Monday and my hip was tight. VERY tight. So was my entire back to be quite honest. My job (driving all day) doesn’t really help an injured hip, so I have to be really good about stretching. He told me if the pain had been steady the entire time I took off, he would be worried. But he said go for it this weekend.

I actually ran Tuesday and felt pretty good. I had a massage Wednesday and it was amazing. Every little spot that I have tried to hit with my trigger point ball seemed to finally be worked on. By no means was this relaxing-but it got the job done. Massage Man Will gave me four different stretches to do in the morning, at night, and honestly as often as I can to try and not let my muscles shorten/tighten.

I have orders to not run until Saturday and maybe do an easy bike ride Friday to stay loose.

Do I have goals?

Yes and no. If I am going to be 100% honest and put it all out there, I want a sub 2 hour race. If you know me IRL, you know I am crazy competitive with myself and the garmin and since my first ever 1/2 marathon was right under 2 hours, I kinda expect at least the same thing. At the same time, I am not stupid and know that my training has been “just to get my through” maxing out at an 11 mile long run and around 21 miles for my longest mileage week. Also, there has not been an ounce of speed work and I’ve barely run the past 2 weeks. So really, I will just be happy to finish (hopefully with minimal or no pain!?!?). And I truly mean that.

I want to have fun and try and not let my adrenaline get the best of me like it did at Bourbon Chase. I could hold those paces for shorter miles, just not so sure about 13.1 just yet.

I’m MOST excited about spending a weekend with Jess and Stephanie. I haven’t seen either of these two fabulous ladies since #NUUNHTC last year and I can’t wait to catch up. And then force them to drink beer and watch the Auburn game post race. :)

So state #20, I’m coming for you. See you soon Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
