So, I may not be able to race just yet…but there are several awesome running events around the Southeast that I thought I would share with you.
1. The Allstate Life Insurance℠ Atlanta 13.1 Marathon® and Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K events will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2013. The race will start and finish at Town Brookhaven, just like last year. I enjoyed this race last year…I had forgotten how fun it is to run local. I wish that I was able to run, but not running won’t keep me from being there. My sister is running her first post-baby half marathon so I will be cheering!
A little more about the race…
The course encompasses Town Brookhaven in Atlanta’s Brookhaven community, situated on Peachtree Road, north of Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza, and borders the historic Oglethorpe University.
The Allstate Life Insurance℠ Atlanta 13.1 Marathon® is walker friendly. The course will remain open for 3 hours and 30 minutes (16 minute/mile pace).
Participants have until Oct. 2 to register online and can do so at http://www.131marathon.com/
I’m lucky enough to have 3 FREE ENTRIES TO GIVEAWAY TO THE RACE!!!
2. Confession: I’ve always, always, always wanted to audition for the Amazing Race. Of all of the reality shows on TV, this one is for me. Atlanta has often had similar, local versions but I have never been able to participate (other race schedules, injuries, etc).
Challenge Nation will be in Atlanta on Sunday, September 29th. You can rally a team together to compete with speed and brains (just like the show!). There are cash prizes, drink specials, and a post party. Need I say more? I really hope I am able to squeeze this in (since speed isn’t as important and it’s not too much running).
3. I have lived in Atlanta for 10 years and never made a trip to Chattanooga (it’s a quick 1.5 hours or so). As many of you know, I travel a lot for work now and TN is part of my territory. I fell in love with Chattanooga. The downtown area has a lot of charm and really is a great weekend getaway. I wish I was in running shape again because The 7 Bridges Marathon (and several other distances) in Chattanooga is October 20th.
The marathon course runs along the banks of the Tennessee River and throughout a charming downtown, crossing the sparkling river a total of six times during the full marathon. The event offers a full marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), 5K and 1K Fun Run.
I hope to have another lucky follower want to run this race because I have a FREE ENTRY to the 7 Bridges MARATHON race as well!
Are you doing any of these races? What’s next on your race schedule? Ever done an adventure/scavenger race?
If you want to win either entry for the races….you know the drill (comment, tweet, blog, facebook about the contest for an entry). SEPARATE COMMENTS and an entry for each comment. Please let me know which race you want, Atlanta or Chattanooga. I will end the contest on Monday, September 23rd at midnight EST.
