Sunscreen=June is my busiest month. Not a ton of time for blogging. At some point in 2013 I hope to figure out work/life balance. Suggestions??

Time to back it up a bit.
Week 10 Post Op– Pretty uneventful. Only new exercise is a one-leg cone touch. I stuck with my workouts on the road as much as I could. The gym in my hotel in Nashville sucked, and the elliptical was broken. I walked a mile on the treadmill instead (on Monday )after a very long drive. I MADE myself workout at 9:30 at night in Chattanooga that Wednesday. I think I upped my cardio to 25 minutes on the elliptical.
I was lucky enough that week to have a #renuunion with SarahOuaL! She was in Nashville for a bachelorette party so we met for lunch. I loved catching up IRL and hopefully we can do it again soon.
I spent my my Thursday of that week hanging out with NKOTB. Don’t judge. It was amazing. Boyz 2 Men and 98 degrees opened up. I must say, 98 degrees didn’t put in nearly as much effort as the other two. And 20 years later, NKOTB still rocks my face off. I was 12 all over again. I must say, I loved the finale with Boston Strong.
I also spent my weekend at a beerfest with Johanna having wayyy too much fun. I ended up walking a good two miles. I wasn’t in terrible pain, just the same tight glute issues.
Week 11 Post Op– My regular PT, Julie, decided to take the summer off…so I started with a new PT. I was able to move up my band color (the change in color makes the band harder) and I am now on green! I was also able to add in 3 different pilates moves, and if those were pain free I could continue to progress forward.
I also attempted back-to-back workouts again without any pain. SUCCESS! This was in addition to long drives in Alabama and working a trade show in Destin this past weekend (all day on my feet). NO EXTREME PAIN! Sure, I was tired, but so was everyone working the show. The highlight of the weekend was getting to hang out with my cousin Amanda! I wish we lived closer.
Week 12 Post Op– On Monday I decided I would try 3o minutes on the elliptical and see how I felt GREAT! I hit 45 minutes of cardio without any problems.
I met with the PT today and was told to go ahead and increase it to 35 on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the bike. I can also add in PRIVATE PILATES and deep end POOL RUNNING this week. HOLY CRAP I AM SO EXCITED. I’m starting to feel like an athlete again.
On a side note, I can now curl 15lbs. My Madonna arms are still a work in progress, but I have continued to do back and upper body work three times a week. I usually alternate my arm/upperbody work with PT days and double up and have a long workout on Saturdays.
Just to give you an idea of what my weeks have looked like so far…
- Monday: PT/cardio/arms
- Tuesday: Rest
- Wednesday: cardio/arms
- Thursday: PT (sometimes cardio)
- Friday: Rest
- Saturday: PT/cardio/arms
- Sunday: Rest
Starting this week I will add what I mentioned above and not have as many rest days. My PT was moved to Tuesdays or Fridays and so my schedule will change with that too.
I know it may not sound like much, but it has been a very, very long hard 12 weeks. Even though I wasn’t really running before that (since January), I could at least go to pilates and spinning. I have felt like a blob for way to long and finally feel like I’m moving in the right direction.
I’m spending the 4th in Atlanta and if it doesn’t rain, I’ll cheer at the Peachtree. If it rains, I’m taking advantage and sleeping in. I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend…I have another few busy weeks of travel ahead!
