January Monthly Recap

Yes, February is almost over and I am just now recapping January. Such is life.

Miles Planned/Actual: 100 something?/42.2. I don’t have the stomach to open up my “would’ve been” plan. I just know it was a lot more miles planned than completed.

Cross Training Planned/Actual: I have no idea. I stopped tracking when I got injured because I was pissy and pouted. I went to flywheel and pilates. A LOT.

Races Planned/Actual: 2/2.  I did finish the MS Blues 1/2 and had a blast with Kim, S, and P. I spent the next weekend in Austin where it all went downhill.

PR’s: nada.

Challenges Completed: I had to stop Best Body Bootcamp. I missed too many days with the hip injury and didn’t want to overdo it. I hope to try it again next go round when I am injury free.

Current Aches/Pains: the stupid hip. Some days it hurts, some days it doesn’t. I have a follow up appointment on Wednesday and I would love more answers.

Current Book: I finally finished Gone Girl! I also read Silver Linings Playbook. I didn’t love the ending to Gone Girl-I expected more. I LOVED Silver Linings Playbook and then saw the movie. The movie totally sucked (was nothing like the book). I recommend it. Currently reading another book, but will wait for my February recap.

Current Obsession: Flywheel, my niece, and my job!

Current Drink: Kona Kola and Lemon-Lime NUUN and Grapefruit Orange and Tangerine Lime NUUN ALL DAY.

Current Like: A weekend with P in Nola-even though I can’t run, work, and I’m down to the lowest number I’ve seen on a scale since college.

Current Dislike: my injury. I hate whining about it, but I’m currently at 33 days since I laced up the running shoes. Also, how busy I am. I LOVE my job, but it’s kicking my A. It is almost like the injury is a blessing-for my jobs sake.

Current Treat: none of that! It’s lent. I gave up sweets.

Current Excitement: My beautiful niece. I am obsessed with her.

Born on Valentine’s Day…

First Day home. She is seriously my sister’s mini-me…

She apparently inherited my toes. My family likes to make fun of how long mine are…

I may not have running pics, but I have baby pics. Way more exciting in my opinion. Also, so sorry for my extreme delay in my January post. I feel dumb even asking about your January-but oh well…

How was your January? And now February? What’s your next race? Let me live vicariously through you. Are you an aunt/uncle and as obsessed as me?

  • you are probably going stir crazy without running, but at least the timing with new job keeps you occupied. I’m so jealous you already got to spend time with your niece!! Mine was born 1/22 and I won’t get to see her till easter 🙁 Congrats she is beautiful (and nothing wrong with long toes)

  • Congrats on the weight. That is really exciting!!!! I have been trying to use the Lose It app on my phone just to keep me in check. I could stand to lose 5 #s, but it isn’t a huge priority to me right now.

Your neice is super cute! My neice was born in November and she is pretty cute too! Poor little thing has been pretty sick though. She has been in and out of the hospital. They think she has allergies. Poor baby.

I am excited for you and your new job. I wished that I could say that I love my job, but I really don’t. I highly dislike it. :/

My first half marathon in over 9 months is this Saturday. Commence freak out! 🙂

  • Holy schmoly you have been busy!! You are right though…maybe everything DOES happen for a reason. Can you imagine trying to fit in a bunch of miles in these places you have traveled and being so busy with work? That would have been extremely frustrating. I am anxious to hear what you find out at your appt. this week. Also, I owe you a call, I was at yoga and then just completely forgot to call you back!

  • Awww…nothing better than a new baby to cuddle! She’s beautiful.

So sorry you are still on the DL. It totally sucks. I am really hoping this week’s appt. gives you some answers and some hope. Last time I was injured was really hard on me mentally, so I get where you are. The only thing I can say is it will come to an end, eventually, and you will get back. Big hug!

  • Oh, so cute!! I so hated the end of Gone Girl too. It’s like she just got tired of writing and gave up! ug. I hear some of her other books are good, though.

  • What a lovely little girl!

The ending of Gone Girl was so sudden – it felt like a cop out! I second the notion that she was tired of writing and gave up.

Here’s to hoping your hip feels better soon!

  • Your niece is so adorable!!! I can’t believe she was born on Valentine’s Day. That’s so sweet. My nephew finally arrived the Saturday before Valentine’s but I’ve been a bad blogger and haven’t done a post about him yet.

  • i know i just tweeted at you – but we need a Flywheel date! i am legit obsessed too! =D Welcome on the bandwagon. And that niece of yours. precious!! congrats!!
