Trips and the Tree

As mentioned several times over the past few weeks, I LOVE CHRISTMAS. Decorating the Christmas tree is one of my favorite things. P was a trooper to help me pick out one and decorate it. The one reason I really love my tree is because it is filled with memories. A lot of race memories. No, I don’t use my race bling as ornaments. I try to pick up an ornament on each trip I take, and that usually means a race since I am racing the states (and less crap around my house-it only comes out once a year). My tree is full of color-I don’t think I will ever have a tree that is all matchy-matchy with ornaments and decor that all flows nicely.

I figured I would share a few of my favorite ornaments with you. BUT, I will also share in video. Mainly because several of my NUUNHTC teammates said they missed my accent. So, I decided I would vlog about my tree (I say favorite-A LOT). My feelings won’t be hurt if you don’t want to watch/listen. :) Enjoy Molly, Jocelyn, and XLMIC (and Tasha who also requested some southern accent action).

The tree-however, I think the flash ruined the picture. It makes the tree look empty-and I promise it’s not! Note the Auburn Santa tree topper.

Even though you can barely see in in this pic (can see in the video), I love my homemade tree skirt from last year-it was work, but totally worth it in the end!

The beginning of the year started with the Goofy Challenge! I had the details of the race added to the ornament in Downtown Disney.

I love the fleur di lis, I got this in New Orleans. Always fun to head back year after year for Rock N Roll New Orleans.

The ornament that I purchased when we went to the Oak Barrel 1/2 Marathon. Similar to the medal!

Big Sur! I actually got this one last year, but they had it this year too. It’s hand painted.

Even though Alabama is my home state, I had never been to Huntsville until I met P. After our trip for the Huntsville 1/2 and a visit to the Space and Rocket Center, I had to have something to remind me of that weekend.

I somehow, misplaced my Seattle ornament that I bought this summer. I’ve hidden it from myself. I never found one in New Jersey (wasn’t there long enough), Virginia Beach, Las Vegas or North Carolina. Working on finding something that will remind of those places and adding them to my collection though!

And don’t worry, I have an entire tree that is overflowing with Auburn. So much Auburn that it doesn’t hold all of my Auburn ornaments. Oops.

Hope you enjoyed hearing a little bit of Southern and taking a tour of my Christmas tree :)

Do you decorate a tree? Real or fake? Matchy -matchy or ornaments with sentimental value? Do you pick up souvenirs on trips?
