Can I just say how much I love traveling for races?? Me and P arrived in Charleston late last night. A quick night cap from Kaminskys.

Peppermint Patty (hot chocolate with Peppermint Schnapps). For the record-I couldn’t finish it. Just too much all around.
I got up (while P works) and went for my shakeout run along the water and Rainbow Row.

We are driving over to Kiawah later today for the rest of the weekend. I wish we had more time in Charleston too. Oh well.
I’m so excited to hang out with Corey and a few of her friends and really excited to race.
This is my last race of 2012. This is my 12th half marathon of my 12 in 2012 challenge. This is my 25th 1/2 marathon. This is state #17. Pretty pumped about all of it.
When Coach Jess emailed me my plan and what she thinks I am capable of, I literally laughed out loud. It seems a bit crazy, but I guess I will go for it. I’m learning to actually BELIEVE this stuff may be possible.
So. Goals.
A. 1:43
B. 1:45 or better
C. Sub 1:50
The course is flat and fast. Jess has readjusted all of “easy” runs to be at 8:15-8:45 pace. Honestly, they have all been easy. I think I have been underestimating myself and taking it way to easy. I’m excited to see what I can do. And honestly, what’s the point of having goals if they aren’t a bit big and scary? Right?
Good luck to Coach Jess and Stephanie at Rehoboth and Suzanne at Rocket City and anyone else racing this weekend!
Are you racing this weekend? Have you been to Charleston? Ever surprised yourself at a race pace?

Yep, I surprise myself all the time because my racing times are so much faster than my regular runs. One of these days I’d like to either work with a coach or follow a plan that includes target paces and see what I can really do.
Have fun in South Carolina and have a fantastic race!
