I haven’t felt like blogging. Not sure if it has to do with all the events in CT or just lack of things to say.
Even with the negative news, I love this time of year. The mailman has been full of surprises.
Cards from my friends (I’m biased, but I think all my friends make beautiful babies).
Surprises from blogger friends (Alma knows me too well and has the cutest Christmas card!)
Cards from Kim’s Card Exchange
And, a surprise from the girls at RunningSkirts! I can’t wait to try it out!
P was a trooper and went with me to see the holiday lights at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens on Tuesday. Pictures really don’t do it justice, it was really pretty! I’m pretty sure all of Atlanta was there-I’m not kidding. It was insanely crowded!
In running related news…
It’s been an easy scheduled week. No time goals-just running. Jess wants to make sure my hip is okay. Here’s what I did last week (since some of you said you liked seeing this). The goals are listed and the actual in bold.
Monday: 5 miles easy 8:30-845 did this on the treadmill because of rain. 5 miles in 43:20
Tuesday: crosstrain/rest/yoga. ended up with rest-threw a party at my house that night.
Wednesday: 6 mile tempo run
Mile 1 – 8:30/8:45 8:27
Mile 2 – 8:15/8:30 8:20
Mile 3 – 7:45/7:30 7:39
Mile 4 – 7:20/7:30 7:28
Mile 5 – 8:15/8:30 8:31
Mile 6 – 8:30/8:45 8:40
Thursday: crosstrain/rest went to chiropractor and yoga for athletes
Friday:5 miles easy 8:30-8:45 had privates pilates session and 5 miles at 8:26 avg. pace
Saturday: 12 miles-first 8 at 8:20-9:00 with last 4 at 8:18 this is my crappy run. I never hit the last 4. stayed between 8:43-8-:59 first 8 and last 4 were 8:19, 8:30, 8:20, 8:28. Had hip pain but was very frustrating seeing as I easily hit my splits at the Kiawah 1/2 marathon the weekend before.
Sunday: rest day (Allison’s baby shower)
Have you heard about the milestonepod? Miss Zippy introduced me to this awesome little gadget and I had to support them. It’s a pod for your shoe that will keep track of your mileage AND keep your safety/personal info in it. It’s only $15! They’ve got 42 days to hit their goal to get this thing produced-so feel free to help out and share on your blog.
The next few days will be a whirlwind before heading home to Alabama. I will be home for 2 weeks. Not exactly what I had in mind, but the Alabama court system says otherwise. I received a subpoena a few weeks ago stating I have to be in court on January 2nd. It makes absolutely no sense to drive back to Atl and then drive to MS one day later for the Mississippi Blues race so I am staying in Mobile and driving to Jackson, MS instead (only 3 or so hours instead of 6 hours from Atl). It’s all worked out, just going to be hard to pack for the holidays, 2 weeks at home, and a race!
How is your training during the holidays? Are you able to stick to a schedule? Are you traveling for the holiday?
