A weekend with Shalane, Bart, and RW

by Elizabeth on September 12, 2012

Yes, of course I am on a first name basis with Shalane Flanagan, Bart Yasso, and the editors of Runner’s World.

Okay. Maybe not.  I mean, I have MET Bart.  But maybe, just maybe, after a pretty awesome weekend that I am finalizing, I will be CPF (close personal friends) with the said names above.

I know yall might think I’m a little cra-cra.  BUT I couldn’t pass this opportunity up (and yes, the PT has given her stamp of approval).  I am going to the first annual Runner’s World half marathon & festival October 19th-21st.

I get to meet some fellow fitfluential ambassadors (and reunite with HTC teammate Katie Runs This) and spend the weekend talking, living, and breathing all things running.  Pretty pumped. AND I get to check off a new state-the race is in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The weekend includes seminars, running movies (is it sad I want to see HTC and I own it myself??), dinner with race editors, Shalane Flanagan appearances, and of course, RUNNING!

To be safe, I am only running the half.  I may actually have to do my first walk/run, but I am taking what I can get.  There is also a 5K and 10K on Saturday and runners have the opportunity to do the hat trick (all 3 running events).  If you want to come and join me for any or all of the events, you can get 10% off by using the code BLOGGER4.

The only thing I am waiting on is a picture of this bling!  Side note-you get a medal for each event.  Pretty cool. So bummed I’m missing the hat trick.

Are YOU going to the RW half and festival?  Any interest in joining me?

I live in Bethlehem and was so excited when they announced the Running Festival here. With RW based closeby it’s pretty common to come across Bart Yasso and other RW folks at local races, but the fact that Shalane will be in town makes it even better. I’m doing the hat trick as training for the Philly Marathon in November. If you need any tips on places to check out in Bethlehem let me know! I hope you enjoy the area and your ankle is all healed up!

Sooooo jealous!!!! I have met both Bart & Shalane and it both instances were a definite high light in my book. I wished that I was physically capable of running and that I lived closer so that I could go to what I am sure will be an epic event. I am glad that your PT gave you approval. :-)

I wish I could join and attend all those seminars and just hang out with crazy runners :) But that weekend we are in Atlantic City, I run the half there. It feels all cool events are on one day! :)

You will have a blast! I am not going because I’ve got the Great Lakes Zooma thing the same weekend. Bart came to our party in Boston and he’s SUCH a great guy.
