Okay. So I have been talking about it for weeks. And some of you, ahem Alma, have been waiting for me to post it. So if you want to scroll through why I love NUUN and all of my hard labor pictures and below to the video…be my guest.
But first…
I was reminded of my first intro to NUUN-it was at my first marathon-RNR Seattle. My friend Rob and I bought some at the expo but Coach Tommy said to never try anything new before race day. So it had to wait. I did try it after the race-and I really enjoyed it.
Since then it has become a staple in my training and day to day activities. It is so much lighter on your stomach than a powerade or gatorade. In my opinion, it is also cheaper and easier to keep around the house. I keep a big stock of it in my pantry and have a variety of flavors. They key is to pick it up at a race expo-you can get a deal and it’s only 2 for $10.
My current fav’s are the grape (which they give back to LLS so I love that), kona kola and a mix of half orange and half tea. Don’t get my wrong-I have four other flavors in the rotation too-those are just my favs.
I remember seeing posts last year when applications were due for HTC but I didn’t think I would have a chance-I was still somewhat new to the blogging thing at that point. I LOVED seeing everyones posts on the 2 teams from last year after they finished the race. I knew back then I would apply.
For the past 2 weeks…this is what I have been working on.
My inspiration:
![]() |
Grape NUUN. I do love the flavor, but chose it because of the ties to Team in Training
putting the “base” hard circle and fabric together
fabric glue is a big ole mess
cut out fabric letters and glued to base along with the velcro
stenciling each and every little word
final product. little touches down to the grapes and the LLS blood drop.

LOVE IT – Good luck – I hope they pick you!!!
Awesome job! Great idea!!!
this was adorable—AND creative. Crazy to hear your southern accent. You spent months / years reading about peoples lives, then when you hear them its a whole different story, love it
super cute, good luck!
cuuute! glad we got to say hi this weekend… hopefully we cross paths again soon!
ummm i'm back! BTWWWWWWW… i am searching thru oak barrel and can't find one damn pic of myself and i've already seen like 5 of you in the first 200 pics! hahaha miss photogenic apparently.
@Ashley-this child of mine has NEVER been camera shy. Back in the day of "film" I could have an empty camera and aim at her and she gave me a "Miss America" smile… BTW, her first verbalized aim in life was to be Miss America. Gotta love her! She ROCKS!!
I'm in your video!!! Hahahaha!!!! LOVE the video and really hope you make the team!!! Good luck!
Great job with the video! So creative & crafty too!
And yay for our Atlanta expo photo!
I love that you dressed like a giant tube of Nuun. Good luck! I didn't apply – my splits aren't consistently good enough for the HTC limits. Something to work for!
Great video! I love the attention to detail on your costume. Good luck!
Yeah! I 'm on team Elizabeth! You really put a lot of work into that costume & the video and it shows. Can't wait to see you in August

Go Team E! Nuun, you must pick her and have her wear that costume pre or post race. I love your accent too, but I don't think you said "ya'll" in the video. I'll watch it again, hehe.
HEY, I SAW ME!! Good luck, I hope you get in
Great video! I'm rooting for you and Alma to make it!
Love your video Elizabeth! I was pretty pumped to see the photo of you, Jenny, and I that made it into the video. I really hope you get chosen!
