NUUN Love!

by Elizabeth on April 9, 2012

Okay.  So I have been talking about it for weeks.  And some of you, ahem Alma, have been waiting for me to post it.  So if you want to scroll through why I love NUUN and all of my hard labor pictures and below to the video…be my guest.

But first…

I was reminded of my first intro to NUUN-it was at my first marathon-RNR Seattle.  My friend Rob and I bought some at the expo but Coach Tommy said to never try anything new before race day.  So it had to wait.  I did try it after the race-and I really enjoyed it.

Since then it has become a staple in my training and day to day activities.  It is so much lighter on your stomach than a powerade or gatorade.  In my opinion, it is also cheaper and easier to keep around the house.  I keep a big stock of it in my pantry and have a variety of flavors.  They key is to pick it up at a race expo-you can get a deal and it’s only 2 for $10.

My current fav’s are the grape (which they give back to LLS so I love that), kona kola and a mix of half orange and half tea. Don’t get my wrong-I have four other flavors in the rotation too-those are just my favs.

I remember seeing posts last year when applications were due for HTC but I didn’t think I would have a chance-I was still somewhat new to the blogging thing at that point.  I LOVED seeing everyones posts on the 2 teams from last year after they finished the race.  I knew back then I would apply.

For the past 2 weeks…this is what I have been working on.

My inspiration:

Grape NUUN.  I do love the flavor, but chose it because of the ties to Team in Training
And let the work begin:
putting the “base” hard circle and fabric together
fabric glue is a big ole mess
cut out fabric letters and glued to base along with the velcro
stenciling each and every little word
final product. little touches down to the grapes and the LLS blood drop.
If you haven’t figured it out by now….check out my video of me, a lifesize tube of NUUN :)
I seriously owe a big, huge, ginormous thank you to my sis, Allison and bro-in-law, Chris for putting the video together.  I could not have done this without them.  A big thanks to my friend Kelsey for helping with the costume assembly and to P for being in the video, attempting to help with the costume, and for listening to me talk about this race and application over and over again for the past few weeks.

I hope that NUUN likes it as much as I do.  If you want to put in a good word for me, leave me a comment here, post on their facebook wall, comment on the youtube video, or tweet them @nuunhydration that @ekalifeh should be on their team…. or do all of the above. :)
Hope you enjoyed it!  Did you apply??

this was adorable—AND creative. Crazy to hear your southern accent. You spent months / years reading about peoples lives, then when you hear them its a whole different story, love it :)

@Ashley-this child of mine has NEVER been camera shy. Back in the day of "film" I could have an empty camera and aim at her and she gave me a "Miss America" smile… BTW, her first verbalized aim in life was to be Miss America. Gotta love her! She ROCKS!!

I love that you dressed like a giant tube of Nuun. Good luck! I didn't apply – my splits aren't consistently good enough for the HTC limits. Something to work for!

Go Team E! Nuun, you must pick her and have her wear that costume pre or post race. I love your accent too, but I don't think you said "ya'll" in the video. I'll watch it again, hehe.
