Tag! I’m it!

My friend Alma tagged me in the 11 random things that has been floating around blogger world.  I enjoy reading these so hopefully it is just as fun to post.

The rules:
1. Post these rules.
2. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
3. Answer the questions set for you in their post.
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
5. Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them.

here my are random things:
1.  My current favorite veggie is brussel sprouts.  I could eat them every day.  Oddly enough, the first time I had them was 2 years ago.  I don’t think either of my parents cared for them because we didn’t have them growing up.

2.  I have naturally curly hair that I get semi-permanently straightened with Keratin treatment several times a year.  I blow dry and straighten my hair every day too.

3.  I would love to star on broadway.  I love singing and love musicals.

4.  I love oscar winning type movies.  Luckily P is a movie buff too and enjoys going to see all the nominated films.  In the past 3 weeks we have seen the Iron Lady, Shame, and The Descendents.  We have a list of 6 or so more to see.

5.  I have never been snow boarding or snow skiing.

6.  I like tomatoes but hate them on sandwiches and burgers because they make the bread soggy and slippery.

7.  My favorite race is distance is a half marathon.

8.  I can’t stop watching the Bachelor. It is absolute trash t.v. and I am disgusted each time I watch it but it is like a train wreck and I can’t look away.

9.  I love Words With Friends but I apparently suck at it.  I keep losing.

10.  I count calories because I don’t believe in “giving up” anything (except for lent).  No paleo type diets and no non-dairy diets for me.  I love cheese.  I love carbs.  Everything in moderation.  I just need to be really strict on the moderation thing.

11.  I would run 6 days a week if I could but I am worried that I will end up with an overuse injury.  I force myself to cross train and take rest days.

Alma’s questions for me:
1.  What is your preferred method of re-fueling after a long run?
Hmm…for real re-fueling is endurox recovery drink.  I “prefer” a beer, burger and fries.  Yes, and fries.  Why? Because I earned them

2.  Do you keep a food diary?
Yes and no.  I actually stopped WW because of the cost and found a free app for my iphone called Lose It.  It does the exact same thing that WW does, except it just calories instead of points.  I don’t write my emotions, body feelings, etc. though.  That is too much for me.  After a week in Dallas eating crap, I am back to strict calorie counting on Monday.

3.  Do you typically run alone or with others?
Depends on the day of the week.  I like to do both.  Just ended my team in training season but really have enjoyed running with P the past few weeks.

4.  If you could get paid to run, would you?
That’s a big HELLS YEAH.

5.  Desiree, Shalane, or Kara?
This is tough.  Kara is the inspiring mom, Shalane seems to be the natural, young talent, and Desi the come from out of nowhere runner (last months RW article was awesome).  I love them all.  But gotta say I am a big fan of Shalane.  Maybe it’s because we are close in age?

6.  What/where is your “dream” race, the race you would love to do over all others barring any limitations in resources or ability?
Boston.  No question.  So few can and I would love to qualify.

7.  What are you most proud of accomplishing in 2011?
In my personal life, purchasing my condo.  In my running life, 3 PRs (including my sub 4 marathon!)

8.  Have you ever changed careers?
Nope and probably won’t.  I’m in sales.  Always have been and probably always will.  It’s a natural talent that is incredibly easy to me.  I often wish I had taken a different path in life but I know this is what I was meant to do.  One day I would love to rep running stuff!

9.  What podcasts (if any) do you listen to?
Not a consistent podcast listener but really would like to get into it more.

10. If you had to pick, where would you go in 2012: Japan, Iceland, Mexico, or Spain?
Spain.  If Italy was on the list…that would really be it.  If only $$ grew on trees

11.  How much longer do you think you’ll continue to blog?
I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.  So, a while, for sure.

My 11 questions for you lucky tagged peeps
1.  What’s your favorite running distance?
2.  Favorite race/race location?
3.  Salty or Sweet?
4.  Do you live in the town where you grew up?
5.  What is the last book you read?
6.  If you could run with any famous runner, who would it be?
7.  Do you watch the bachelor?
8.  What is the one food you could never, ever give up.
9.  Favorite cross training activity?
10. Wine, beer, hard liquor? all of the them? none of the them?
11. What is one thing you indulge in after running that you wouldn’t normally have/do?

I feel like almost everyone I know has been tagged…not sure if these folks have and if I missed your post with them–sorry for the retag!

  • I love brussels sprouts too! MMMM!
Have you ever tried MyFitnessPal.com for tracking diet? They have a phone ap too. I should check yours out, maybe it's better.
    Thanks for playing along!

  • I could have written a few of your randoms myself! I only tried brussels sprouts a year ago and I could kick myself for not doing it earlier. If someone had told me that they were just little cabbages I would have eaten then a long time ago! I love cabbage and sprouts are close in taste, but easier to prepare to my liking.

And Broadway musicals? Yes, please! Just went to see Memphis at the Fox this weekend and it was fantastic.
