A Non-Running Vacation

And it was.  In more ways than one.

My first non-running related, non-wedding, non-baby shower, just VACATION vacation in almost 2 years.

We (myself and who I will call “P”) had an amazing time and ate, drank, shopped, ate, toured, and ate our way through NYC.  A few pics of the trip…

Wednesday: Katz’s Deli, Wall Street Protesting Memphis the Musical
view from hotel room.  floor to ceiling windows!
Pastrami and Hard Salami Sandwiches at Katz’s Deli
Wall Street Protestors
Me and P on Wall St.
HIGHLY recommend this musical!  SOOO Good.

Thursday (Birthday): TODAY show, Cafeteria (brunch), Letterman taping, Balthazars (dinner)
I had green eggs and ham.  delish.
Yes, I totally took a pic of my tv when they showed us in the audience 🙂
Dinner at Balthazars.  Great meal, great time,  great company.

Friday: MOMA, shopping, lunch with a high school friend,  War Horse (play), Serendipity
Yes. These desserts are no joke.

I will admit.  We ate most of it.

Saturday: Gray Line Tour Bus, the MET, Auburn Game

I learned on this trip I prefer musicals to plays, I’m not a fan of modern art,  the subway can be mastered with the right Iphone app, there is never enough time to do it all, and cab drivers are scary.  Next time I will focus less on tours (P’s first real trip so it was a must and I had never done them and this was my 5th trip to NYC), more on musicals, Central Park, shopping and great restaurants.
Did you notice anything missing???
If you guessed running, you are correct.  It was a non-running trip in more ways than one.  I had every intention of running.  I packed 3 running outfits.  I used none.  We walked so much and had so little time to do it all that taking an extra hour or two a day wasn’t worth it to me.  And..my legs were already tired.
And you know what?  I liked it.  I think I needed the break.  But don’t worry.  I am back at it this week. I also started weight watchers today(more on this later).  I am shocked I didn’t gain a pound while we were gone (we really walked a ton).
Back to the real world.  And my vacation hang over.  🙁  Until we meet again NYC…
Do you vacation without running?  Or do you make it a priority?

  • Many of my trips are running related but I always make sure to add on a day or two for just hanging out and sight seeing. Unless there is a race, running is not important on my vacation and I only go for a run if Mike wants to sleep in 🙂

Your NYC trip looks like soo much fun!!! Good for you 🙂
