1. If you saw my Wordless Wednesday post, you got a sneak peek of my race shirt for Big Sur THIS WEEKEND. i can’t believe it is this weekend! The names on the back are for people that I know that have battled a blood cancer. The ribbons are additional names of loved ones of my friends and family that have battled cancer (any type). If you would like for me to run in honor of someone please let me know their name and I will add a ribbon for them. I already know of little Gabby, Giraffy’s daughter. I will run 26.2 miles this weekend for TNT. For survivors. For current fighters. For those who have lost their battle. Cancer Sucks. I will run with TNT and for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society until we find a cure.
2. The bloating from the carbs and salt are starting to settle in on my body. This is probably the most annoying thing about the marathon taper. I really have felt great mentally and physically–it’s just the eating and carb-loading that kills me. I just feel so bleh. I usually don’t eat carbs this many times a day. It is starting to show! Ew. Gotta look at the big picture and not the belly bulge!
3. I am still in shock by the weather that has struck the south this week. I don’t remember having this many tornadoes in years past. I am from LA (lower Alabama) and my family wasn’t impacted by the storms yesterday. I do, however, have tons of friends in the Birmingham, Huntsville, Anniston, and even the Tuscaloosa areas. I will admit, I cannot imagine how my heart would feel if my college town would have been hit. I feel for my Alabama friends. Please keep them all in your thoughts in prayers. It will be a long road to recovery.
3.5 I applied to NY way back when it first opened up but didn’t anticipate getting in…RNR Savannah is already on the books that weekend (had I gotten in I would’ve deferred to next year). I’m counting on my we-didnt-let-you-in-for-3-years slot and will see NYC in 2014!
