The Jelly Bean 10K

I have to say, this was a very easy “race” for me.  It was a training run for Big Sur.  I knew I would get it in…so I kinda feel guilty calling it my race for April for the Run for the Bling of it Challenge.  But ya gotta do what ya gotta do and Big Sur comes first (before other races in April I mean).

I ran the race at at my usual informal TNT Wednesday night spot, Big Peach.  Only a handful of the Big Sur Team was there–I think most bailed because we were predicted to have really bad thunderstorms that day–but it never even rained.  There were only 4 of us and we were scheduled to run 8 miles.  So I brought my camera along for the run.  We started at 6:30 pm.

Robert, myself, Andy, Katie C.

The route was our regular 8 mile route.  I have done it many times before.  We run through a very nice neighborhood, Capital City (also a beautiful golf course and club).  If you saw the movie Life as We Know It with Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel, then you would know it it too.  The house they live in and neighborhood he runs through is in Cap City (as we call it).
Wednesday night runs should be at 60-65% effort, so I knew this race wouldn’t be for time.  We actually stop and stretch at each of the water stops and have those around mile 2, 4, and 6.  I snapped a few photos of us along the way.
Katie C., Andy, myself at mile 4 (ish)

And made sure to get a picture of my watch with my time when we hit the 10K mark.

i am so spoiled with my SLR,the little camera has this pic all blurry.  blame to photographer :)
My time was 1:01:??. Too blurry to read.  Here are my stats..they obviously include all 8 miles.  Hope that is okay :)
I think I lost satellite around mile 7 after we took the picture of my time

Overall I felt great-no pain at all which is huge considering what this training season has entailed.  The only issue was the heat and humidity.  I am very much looking forward to the weather in California!!

Confession:  I forgot to print my bib before the race to take with me and my roommate wasn’t home when I finished the run to take a pic.  I attempted the self portrait but that wasn’t so pretty.  So you get a pic of my bib.  OOPS.

Thanks Jess for organizing a fun virtual race!!  Happy Easter everyone!!
