It was so nice to have a productive weekend! Running, brunch with old friends, dinner out, sleeping in, a fundraiser and getting organized. Whew! I like it when I can get a lot done.
I’m not sure if its called a GTS at other Team in Training chapters across the country or if they have them like we do, but just an fyi for you non-TNTer’s its our Group Training Session and we have them every Saturday morning. Our Big Sur training has us at 6 miles and I had the okay from the doc to give it a try. I have to be honest, I was really nervous. I wanted it to go perfectly. I needed it to be perfect. I needed to get 6 easy miles in to feel ready for New Orleans. But it wasn’t.
I was trying to go slower than I normally run (because thats what I was told to do) but that led me to limping and feeling uncomfortable. I think I was so nervous about running that I was purposely overcompensating on the “okay” leg. The first 2 miles weren’t great. I had a little bit of pain and didn’t want to push it. I stopped and waited for the team to turn around and come back. I ended up running back the last 2 miles on my own and at my regular pace and felt a lot better. I’m not sure if it was my leg warming up or if its because I ran my normal pace without over thinking it. Who knows. I’m looking forward to physical therapy in the morning to try and get some answers. I am hoping to get in a 6 miler on Wednesday morning and 8 with the Team this weekend. I don’t want to set myself back by running too much but I really want to get back out there.
Confession. I have a bad habit of getting my race swag bag and dumping it into a larger bag that sits in my closet. Well, I decided to do a little cleaning today and went through this bag. I can definitely stop buying Lara bars because I apparently have enough to last me a while. I also have a ton of other stuff-sports drink mix, GU chomps, sports beans, and muscle rub gel. Note to self. No more throwing the bag in the back of the closet. I have a new system-a “running box” of goodies that is going to stay accessible. I need to use this stuff!

I also cooked one of my fav’s from Cooking Light tonight– Three Cheese Baked Penne. Sounds horrible for you, but its not (nutritional info at the bottom of the link). That’s what I love about Cooking Light. The meals taste amazing and you would never know they were healthy. I also added a side of Kale to get another veggie in our dinner.

I did my best at taking pictures but forgot to take one in the casserole dish (apparently Chris & I were hungry) so you get it in the tupperware container. Oops!
