Three Things Thursday

1. I am currently at the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, FL staying at a fabulous W hotel. Am I getting any sun or enjoying the weather you ask? No, I am in a classroom from 8-5 for a regional sales meeting. Such a tease! I did get to sit out on the balcony for about 20 minutes and it is so nice down here! Remind me why I moved away from the gulf coast to a big city after college again?

2. I ran 6 on the treadmill yesterday morning! WOOT WOOT! The first 2 miles weren’t the best, but the IT Band warmed up and I was good to go. I definitely wish I would’ve been outside but the PT suggested sticking to the treadmill for a flat surface where I could control the speed. I’m actually finding it easier on my leg to run faster. Hmmm. I did 5 minutes of my old way of running and 3 minutes of proper footstrike running. Big difference! Saturday’s scheduled run is 8 and I am crossing my fingers. I am being a very good patient–lots of foam rolling and hip exercises! I even brought my foam roller in my carry on for this trip (luckily its the trigger point grid so I could stuff things inside the tube).

3. I’m in charge of our Big Sur group fundraiser for Team in Training this weekend. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out and to see how much money we will raise for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you live in Atlanta, please come to Ormsbys on Sunday from 2-5 for some game tournaments, drinks and apps, raffles, and great silent auction items! $20 gets you in :) the more the merrier!

  • Hi Elizabeth! Are you coming down to NOLA with a group for RNR? Is it practical to try to meet up before the race? I just registered last night so I don't know what my wave is yet but can let you know, in case we're the same? I put my finish time down as 1:50 but really, I shouldn't be finishing that fast. I'm just officially starting my half training program on 2/7 and the weekend of the NOLA RNR I'm scheduled for an 8-mile run. I'm thinking that if I'm good, I will just run the first 8 miles at workout pace (goal – 8:46 pace) then walk/jog the rest.
    I'm breaking all my rules by signing up for this but just couldn't resist. Anyway – Not sure if it would be possible to meet up, even for a quick hello & photo, but surely would be fun to have a mini bloggy meet-up before-hand.

  • Hey Elizabeth- thanks for advice on chiropractor! I would definitely be down for meeting up at NOLA- I am coming in w/ some friends friday afternoon and will be in town till monday. Expo works, since is an RnR race I'm assuming it will be HUGE and packed so might need more specifics. Let me know
