As most of yall know, I am involved with Team in Training. This week is “Paint it Purple” in the social media world. So I have tweeted and updated facebook about my experience with Team in Training. I figured you deserved a little “Paint it Purple” in the blogger world.
My first event with Team in Training was my first full marathon, Rock and Roll Seattle, on June 26, 2010. I had technically already signed up for the 1/2 marathon but received a flyer in the mail about TNT and they were doing the same event. So I went to an info meeting and knew this was something I needed to do. And they convinced me I could run a marathon–so I switched and ended up running the full. Not only did I accomplish an amazing running goal; I made friends for life, unforgettable memories, and most importantly, raised almost $5,000 to fight against blood cancers (leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease, and myeloma).

My singlet-yes, monogrammed (I am from AL and we monogram everything), for those I know that have fought a blood cancer. The ribbons are from those who donated and put a name for someone they know that has battled any type of cancer. It was over 50 ribbons. Very powerful.
I am currently mentoring other runners, fundraising, and training for Big Sur on May 1, 2011. I love this organization and know I will stay involved for years to come. I hope to move on to a captain position and possible coaching in the future. If you are interested in learning more let me know or check out www.teamintraining.org
Have you ever done TNT? What was your first event? Most memorable? You could also share and “Paint it Purple” on your blog :):)
