So, I feel like a total slacker but life has been CRAZY the past few weeks. My best friend Amanda’s wedding, Dad’s surprise 60th, Team in Training fundraiser, work, and of course–running 🙂
This will be a short entry and I will hopefully make up for it in the next few weeks. So, to sum up my running over the past few weeks…
I’m learning to run without music. I never thought it would be possible but I am learning to like it. I have gotten used to running with my fellow TNTers and we talk when we run. So when I set out to run in Mobile when I was home for the wedding I forgot my ipod. I was completely freaked out at the thought of running 8 miles without any noise. It ended up being quite the breathe of fresh air–I paid more attention to my surroundings and was able to focus on my breathing and footwork. Since then I have gone on several runs without music and have enjoyed paying attention to the things around me.
2 other big accomplishments in the past few weeks—-
I ran 14 miles for my training for Seattle!! I had never run more than 13.1. It was not as bad as I thought is was going to be. I will admit it was very wierd to run that far and not have a cheering section and receive a medal. But I better get used to it–the miles are only increasing!
And, I set another PR! I ran the Big Peach 5K on Saturday and did it in 24:37–a 7:56 pace (last year I finished in 25:00 flat). I was super pumped that I beat my old time. I finished 33 out of 377 women and 11 out of 93 in my age group. Not too shabby. I will admit it here, the only reason I look forward to turning 30 (and I mean the ONLY) is so that I can fall into the 30-34 age group. Less runners and I can one day hopefully place in my age group. Nerdy I know, but I am admitting it.
