My Newest Purchase(s)

So, I will admit I am quite the shopper. I will find an excuse to buy whatever I want. When I first got into running I was shocked at the price of some of the heartrate monitors on the market. At the time, I went with a pretty basic Timex heartrate monitor, calorie counter and stopwatch. Now fast foward one year later…

I have moved to the land of garmins. Never did I imagine wanting or needing one of these things…but it is amazing!! I just bought it on Wednesday from my favorite running store Big Peach Running in Atlanta (Along with new Brooks running shoes, body glide, and a spibelt–more on these later). I did not know a “watch” could do so many things.
The Garmin Forerunner 405 is way more than a watch. It may sound cheesy but it’s a runners dream. No longer do I have to calculate my pace in my head and guess if I have gone enough miles for my training. This thing does it all. Heartrate, calories, pace, split times, elevation, distance–the only thing it doesn’t do is yell at you to go faster (although sometimes I wish it could). I downloaded the software that came with it but wasn’t sure what that meant. So today, after my 12 miles run with Team in Training I came home and “synced” my watch to the computer. In a matter of a few minutes I was able to look at a graph and see my average heart rates, elevation, time–it even mapped out where I was in Atlanta. I will be able to go back and compare runs and see where I have improved each time and where I need to imrove. Pretty cool. Definitely not regretting this purchase one bit.

  • My parents got me the Forerunner 405 for my birthday last year and I can't get enough of it. Sometimes I think I run just for the fun of the watch. Definitely every runner's dream!
